Brooke Muraco - Head Coach

My name is Brooke Muraco and I’m very excited to be entering my third season as head coach of the Bethel Park Girls Volleyball team.

My passion for volleyball began around age 12 when I began playing club volleyball for Penn Highlands Volleyball Club. I was a four-year varsity starting setter and right side hitter at Southmoreland High School where I received all-conference and WPIAL awards.

I am a 2010 graduate of Penn State Behrend. At Behrend, I was a four-year starting setter earning yearly first-team all conference awards, ECAC awards, and being named Behrend and AMCC player of the week numerous times throughout each season. My biggest accomplishment athletically at Behrend was being named the Behrend Female Athlete of the Year in 2010. Additionally, this spring, I will be inducted into the Athletic Hall of Fame.

After my time at Behrend, I pursued coaching high school and club while subbing, working on my masters in Elementary Education, and looking for a full-time teaching job. I was the assistant at Connellsville High School (2011-2013), Penn Highlands Volleyball Club Head Coach and Coaching Supervisor (2011-2013), Varsity Co-Coach at James Monroe High School (2013), Head Varsity Coach of South Park High School (2016-2017), and P3R Volleyball Club Head Coach (2017-2018).

Outside of teaching and volleyball, I enjoy spending time with my husband, Tony, and our sweet baby girl, Mia.

I am looking forward to another successful season with the Lady Hawks.

Jess Hanson - Assistant Coach

My name is Jess Hanson and I am an alumni of Bethel Park High School. I am looking forward to my first year of high school coaching.

I was a middle blocker for Bethel Park from 2012 through 2015. During my time at Bethel, I received all conference, all WPIAL, and all state honors. I was also a member of the Bethel Park track team. I began playing club volleyball at Pittsburgh Elite Volleyball Association my sophomore year of high school and at that point I knew it was something I wanted to pursue.

I am a 2016 graduate of Seton Hill University where I was a middle blocker. While I was there I received all conference honors and my team won the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference championship for the first time in school history. We made it into the NCAA tournament three out of my four years. During my junior year we made it as far as the Sweet 16.

Academically, I pursued a degree in elementary and special education while minoring in dance. I began dancing at age 2, started dancing competitively at age 5 and continued dancing throughout my high school and college years.

I have coached at various camps and clinics throughout the area.

Currently I am pursuing my masters degree in STEM education at California University of Pennsylvania. I am a building substitute in the Peters Township school district.

I’m really excited to be back in the gym at Bethel Park and I’m looking forward to giving back to the program that inspired my love of volleyball.
